Customers opting for services when they purchase Vertiv™ integrated modular solutions (IMS) recognize the benefits from startup through the life of the solutions.
Integration at the factory is typical for the industry, but too many providers simply “drop off a box,” and leave configuration and startup to the customer. Vertiv IMS services ensure the solution is configured properly and startup happens seamlessly on site. This is the first step in maximizing availability, reliability, and efficiency over the long term.
Startup
Following Vertiv’s tailored design approach and pre-testing of the solution in the factory, and after the mechanical and electrical installation, Vertiv factory-trained and authorized technicians who are equipped with proprietary tools and software step in to perform startup activities according to Vertiv’s quality standards. To ensure seamless systems integration, the technician powers up the modular solution, checking all relevant settings and fine-tuning them as needed. They also provide specialized expertise for the solution’s electrical, thermal management, battery, and fire alarm systems, which are not connected during shipping. To validate the solution’s warranty, the technicians perform startup on Vertiv products and supervise startup and commissioning of any third-party products.
During these startup services, the technician pays special attention to environmental conditions within the enclosure and ensures the fabrication of the module and equipment integrations also meet the highest standards. However, this is just the initial step in a series of services available from Vertiv to properly maintain these solutions throughout their lifecycle.
Integrated modular solutions provide a method for adding capacity quickly, simply, and cost-effectively. The service component amplifies those benefits, making the whole project turnkey and minimizing the demands placed on the customers’ IT or facilities teams.
Support Throughout the Lifecycle
Vertiv’s product and service offerings are all about increasing the mean time between failures (MTBF) and decreasing operating costs. Regular maintenance by a Vertiv factory-trained professional is key to achieving those goals. In fact, a Vertiv study showed the MTBF for UPS units that receive two preventive maintenance service events per year is 23 times higher than a machine with no preventive maintenance during the year. By completing preventive maintenance services for integrated modular solutions (such as the Vertiv™ SmartMod™ and Vertiv™ SmartMod™ MAX) you’re protecting both uptime and efficiency.
Vertiv is your one-stop source for all the service needs of a modular system. Our factory-trained technicians are available to perform necessary services in the regular course of equipment life, such as battery and capacitor replacements, fan replacements and upgrades, and equipment optimization. The critical nature of IT means technicians can be needed urgently, and our truly global coverage allows Vertiv to offer one of the leading response times in the industry from a team of service technicians, which is among the largest — if not the largest — in the world.
